This is longtime Bar Harbor restaurant has been around for decades. It offers upper scale dining. It gets relatively crowded during the peak season for dinner because it is close to where the cruise ships dock. The food has been consistent over the years, and they offer an early bird lobster special.
We visited here before Discovers Day weekend after 20 years. While the town of Bar Harbor has changed, and the town is more developed, it was nice to see that Gaylyn's hadn't. The restaurant has two floors, and we ate on the second floor to get a view. The chowder was tasty and our lobster dinner was filling.
Although the restaurant was full, we didn't feel rushed. As we are now in our early 60s, these things are important to us. I highly recommend making reservations in advance, as Bar Harbor and Acadia National have become major tourist destinations. -

So far the Caesar salad is awesome, never had better and we are from New York!
Fabulous lobster pasta! Coming back tomorrow for more! Open all year round, definitely put it on your list when vacationing in bar harbor. -

I went to Galyn's after seeing they had some lobster pasta on the menu outside. I was in town for the Mount Desert Island half marathon and wanted to get some extra carbs in before the race. The restaurant has a very warm and charming ambiance. It was fairly busy when I arrived but I was able to find a seat at the bar upstairs. The bar tender was very friendly and helpful.
I ordered the lobster linguine. There were plenty of juicy lobster chunks dispersed throughout my pasta. Portions were more than adequate. Flavor was a little on the bland side; the dish definitely needed at least a pinch more of salt. Overall a very pleasant experience that I'd recommend to anyone in the Bar Harbor area. -

This is a lovely quaint restaurant. I picked it because they had a yummy stew called the Frenchman's stew filled with seafood I wanted to try. My hubby got a bacon cheeseburger being that's seafood isn't his favorite lol.
Service was great and so was the food. I truly enjoyed the stew I even shared a taste with my hubby and he loved it as well shockingly.
If we return to Bar Harbor we will probably be back at this quaint yummy restaurant!
It's right on the Main Street in Baton Harbor you can see the water when you walk out . Funny thing is it's right next door to the other restaurant I wanted to try lol! I guess that means there are lots of yummy places in Bar Harbor . -

Good tasting food, portion sizes were much smaller than expected for the price point. If you're road tripping through Maine, and you want to try good lobster on a budget you can find much better options.
